Amelia Island offers visitors many ways to explore our unique history, topography and culture. One of our guest favorites are the Amelia River Cruises & Charters. Embark on one of four unique daily departures from the Fernandina Harbor Marina and enjoy fascinating stories of Amelia Island and Cumberland Island, breathtaking views and wildlife spotting.
The Cumberland Island Tour, their most popular, sets sail from Fernandina Harbor Marina daily at 10:00 am. Cruise by Fernandina’s shrimp boats, historic Old Towne and Ft. Clinch to the wild horses of Cumberland Island while historians give an overview of the historical and ecological features of Amelia Island and Cumberland Island. Pay close attention, as you’ll cruise by the home used in the filming of Pippi Longstocking!
The Beach Creek Tour sets sail at 2:30 daily and offers a beautiful view of the salt marshes and wildlife of Cumberland Island. You’ll also enjoy a close up view of the ruins of the Dungeness Mansion and learn about the several families, including the Carnegies and Lees, who developed the property over time.
The Family Friendly Sunset Tour sets sail just before sunset, offering a relaxing way for families to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, spot wildlife and hear an abbreviated history of the area.
Float away in your own tropical paradise on the Adults Only BYOB Tour offered daily at various times. Listen to some of Fernandina’s finest local musicians while enjoying the views of Historic Downtown, Fort Clinch, Cumberland Island and more!
If you’re in the area during the summer months, don’t miss the Shrimping Eco Tour, an interactive exploration of the Tiger Basin including the deployment of a shrimp net and identification of the catch in the on-board aquarium. If you’re lucky, you may even witness the arrival of the area’s summer guests; many local dolphins, manatees and sea turtles migrate to this area to give birth and nest!
In addition to daily excursions and seasonal tours, Amelia River Cruises offers private charters for weddings, birthdays, or meetings for up to 80 passengers.
Reservations for each cruise are not necessary, but are recommended. For more information, or to buy tickets online, visit the Amelia River Cruises & Charters website!
