Amelia Island is a great place to be any time of year, but it is exceptional over the holidays. The entire town transforms into a winter wonderland with holiday decor down every street and in every store front. Historic homes are decorated by local florists and designers for the annual Holiday Home Tour. And, the world’s largest gingerbread pirate ship, the S.S. Amelia, is anchored with its fondant pirates and chocolate cannons in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton for all to see. But, our favorite part of the holidays on Amelia Island is Dickens on Centre.
December 7th – 9th, travel back in time as Historic Downtown Fernandina transforms into a classic Victorian era English Village complete with carolers, costumed characters, themed performances and even a visit from St. Nick. It truly is fun as the dickens with something for everyone from readings of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, a kid’s zone, the perfect spot for your Instagram shot in the giant holiday card, food, shopping and more!
Admission is free for all Dickens on Centre fun, except for Dickens After Dark. And, in true Amelia Island fashion, Dickens on Centre is dog friendly! Especially during the Paws Parade featuring costumed pups from the Nassau Humane Society.
